Have you ever felt lost in a crowd?
If you stop and ponder this experience, it’s a pretty deep one. Being lost in a crowd is not actually the experience of being lost. I mean, you know where you are, right? You know your way home? But something about ‘who’ you are seems to fragment into the mass. You feel like your very self has been swept away in a soundless, soulless wave of humanity.
When Moses asked God for his ‘name’, God said, ‘I am that I am.’ (Ex 3:14). God claimed the very essence and source of being. We are told in scripture that every man, woman and child is made in the ‘image of God’ (Gen 1:27) – an original every time, because God’s expression of self – his image – comes forth like an eternal spring.
Listen, you may be torn and ashamed; maybe every day of your life, as far as you can remember, you have felt less than others, been told you’re less than others, and never seen or felt your ‘uniqueness’, or your unique worth. Jesus himself was ‘despised and rejected’ by people, but the people were wrong! We the people see each other wrongly. We look through prideful eyes. We relate through selfish motives. We are wrong! The truth is – and I do hope you come to ‘feel’ this – you are a unique expression of God, a prince or princess in the eyes of your eternal Father, and beautiful in His sight. Here is the great news for you today. God has provided us a ‘door’ to walk through, so that we can experience this ‘salvation’. Jesus himself – God in the form of man – said,
‘I am the door. He who enters through me will be saved.’ John 10:9
I implore you this day – walk through the door of Jesus Christ and be saved! Yes, a step of faith, coming from deep within your heart and soul, will walk you to and through the door of Jesus Christ. Call on him!
